Death Note is certainly a nice Anime to watch. I'd give it a 4.5 for certain. The summary has been given in the post before this one. Next to that, if you have not seen Bleach or Naruto, you certainly must see those. Bleach is about a 15 year old school boy Ichigo that finds himself with new spiritual powers as a Shinigami and dedicates his life to ridding the world off monsters called hollows. Naruto is about an obnoxious, suprising Ninja in a modern day setting with a strange political system. Its a boy that fights to become the best and make as many friends as he can on the way. And his ultimate goal to become respected and regain lost friends. They both get an four.
Well, Considering you already seen those there are some others I like; Full Metal Alchemist, Ragnarok and Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. In That order. The first is about a paralel world were chemistry and Alchemy rule over our physics. Its about a set of boys who transmutated a person and get into trouble. They lose both their mother, a body and limbs. They try to regain those by joining the central city (Berlin as paralel world) state alchemists and accessing its massive library. There they find a legend about the philospher stone which they can use to regain those things. Many odd things occur... Worth a 3.8
Ragnarok is a nice story that is based of the massive multiplayer game. It wraps into the gaming atmosphere and is enjoying to an degree. The characters have interesting personalities and quite some humour errupts. There is no real steady story line but its certainly fun to watch. Its worth a 3. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni is about four young girl between the ages of 6-13 that go around and kill people. A young boy named Ichigo (Or something, I forgot, I'm bad at names) keep finding that out in various forms of the story. The story repeats itself in an paralel universe each time. Each time you find out something new and each time some of them die at unique ways. Its rather gruesome and not recommendable to kids. But certainly funny. The killer loli's are worth a 3.7

I would have suggested Full Metal Alchemist, and Bleach, however, FMA wrapped up its entire series a couple months ago and Bleach is the newest on American networks which is on episode 32 as of currently. If we are going with anime that are currently airing on television through Summer, I will also recommend Blood+, and most definitely Naruto Shuppiden. QUOTE Blood+ summary: The entire summary can be found in the link below from the topic I made. http://www.ygolegends.com/forum/t8815.htmlThroughout the series it depicts the passage of time and the shifts in backgrounds, of a particular war that continues to leave its mark, extending its influence into the modern world. There are two major groups involved in the ensuring war. The first group consists of monsters known as "Chiropterans" who can change their appearances into that of human beings. They are actually immortals who feed on the blood of the living (Shown in episode 1). The second group is an organisation known as the "Red Shield", formed to track down these monsters and exterminate them.

Death note is a nice choice I would recommend and give it 5/5 . FMA is a great anime the same goes for bleach, giving FMA 4/5 and bleach 3.5/5, there is one piece it reached 309 episodes now so you need a lot to catch up,.Summery:A young boy wants to become The pirate king, who by accident ate a fruit(devil fruit) that made him a rubberman, and along the journey new members join him not to help him achieve his dream but to avhieve theirs, you may say the drawing is not the best, but the story is good and a few ugly villain and weird sea monsters is not that bad, I will give it 4/5. Naruto shippuden is good but lately, the episodes became boring, I will give it 2.5/5.

there is also a couple of new anime that i would recomend:
Claymore - this one is getting quite interesting. its about a group of Half Human, Half Youna(or monster if you will). thier job is to protect the Humans from the (Full) Younas by killing them. the Claymores however are feared by the Humans they are pay to save due to their coldness to other beings. But even them have hearts, and at least 2 of them have "became friends" with 2 chidren that are traveling with them. The plot is still being reaviled, and only gets better. If you choose to watch this anime be warned its rated 18+ for obvious reasons. I would give a 4.5/5 rate to this one.
Romeo x Juliet - Yes, Shakespear does anime. This one took me by surprise, wasnt expecting this novel to became an anime. Still, so far looks lovely. The music is beautifull, and the animation is amazing. Sence most of us familiar with the plot, ill say no more. If you like Shakespear, you'll LOVE this one. 5/5
Serei no moribito - Only saw the first 2 eps. And looks enteresting so far. Its about a young prince how gets posseced by some demon and its order to be killed by the Emperor. However, his mother fakes his death and tells him to travel with a young worrior woman, how is "forced" to work as his bodyguard for the rest of her life. 4/5

Not absolutely certain if this is what you were asking for, as they're all relatively old, but I've always loved Rurouni Kenshin, D.N.Angel and Fruits Basket (In that order). Rurouni Kenshin gets 5/5, D.N.Angel - 4.5/5, and Fruits Basket gets 4/5 (Would be 5, as I love Fruits Basket in general, but the anime isn't quite as good as the manga) Hope this helps
