Personally I like Anime better. Why, because 99% of anime has most or all of the components needed to make a good show. For example, it has action, comedy, romance(I'm not a big fan of romance), drama, horror, psychological ect.

In Cartoons you only find funny, some has action too but they dont have a wide spreed of genre's. This doesn't mean I hate everything and everyone that likes cartoons, I do like some such as.... Class of the titans, Martin Mystery ect.(I over use this word dots.gif ), but there are those with the most pathetic comedy I've ever seen. Some are so stupid that I literally get an headache...

I would love to hear all your opinions so...

why do i get the feeling this topic should be moved either to the General Chat forum or the Media forum?

and anyways, i like both but in a "fase" that i prefer carttons over anime. a couple of animes that ive been watching disapointed me and i stop watching them tempurarely(?), those being Yugioh GX and Bleach

right know im obcessed with carttons. espetialy 2: Invader ZIM and Danny Phantom XD

also, my mood is stuck in a nostlagic fase that makes wanna see my fav cartoons from my childhood again O_o;;

so yeah, cartoons for me. (for now anyways XD)

I personaly like anime better because anime seems to have a much better plot. Not just some really random nothingness that has nothing to do w/ anything. I don't hate cartoons I just prefer anime...

I agree

Anime has much better storylines than other cartoons.
The characters and illustrations are more realistic and better looking as well (hence why ppl think anime characters r hott!!) I dont think youll see anyone complimenting Bugs bunny that way lol tongue.gif

although i'v noticed anime movements arent always perfect, like when thier mouths move it doesnt always match the lips thumbdown.gif

Cartoons i usually just study the animation and illustrations

I know

There's always alot of detail in the hair and eyes too!

What I do like about cartoons is many of them change the clothing they wear.
Anime characters always seem to be wearing the same clothing. YuGiOh's the only anime I can think of that changes wardrobe. and even so, the clothes only change slightly.

Anime characters look more real smile.gif

The Japanese take pride in their anime. They use a variety of themes, styles, and effects to express their storylines.

Think about it. They use 3-4 methods for colouring:
- Main Colour/s
- Shadowing
- Lighting
- Other effects

Anime artists also have studied the human anatomy. They know that people have 5 fingers, not 4! They know the lengths of arms and legs and how they should outline bone and muscle strutures, not make them look like twigs!

When you compare Anime to Cartoons, there's a big difference.

There are a couple of cartoons that I watch by 'Marathon'. They use Anime method in their show, like Chibi-Forms, sweat-droplets and colouring methods. It's nice to know they are a Canadian Production as well.

Nearly all the other cartoons are just cheap-drawn shows to entertain kids and to sell useless products. These people need to take lessons, because my sis and I draw better then them...

Anime is wayyyyy cooler. There's this one cartoon,(my friend's little brother watches it) The Emperor's new School. There is absolutely no plot to it!!! That drives me up the wall wallbash.gif That is an automatic like Anime more than cartoons just because animes have plots! cartoons deserve the following Smilies:

Thankyou very much.

I said plot lines were better too earlier.

There's way more to them, and if their storylines were made into real movies they would be so cool smile.gif

Emperor's Groove was a great movie and then they ruined it with the sequel and Emperor's new school thumbdown.gif thumbdown.gif

I think what really gets me about anime is the continuation of the story. Each episode is often a continuation of a bigger story line. While with most cartoons there is no real continuity between each of a episodes being separate stories apiece. However, there has been a few cartoons that have really impressed me such as Justice League Unlimited which provides a continuous story arc each season and also has a certain maturity in the story such as marriage and death. Teen Titans is another cartoon which I've liked mostly due to the faster action and the humor.

I agree ningaman, i love how the storyline grows, although I must say having a continuous series means u cant miss an episode and have to watch at a certain time

I think All Grown Up is a good storyline for a cartoon, i like how they made the characters older and kept all the same. Plus i think the detail on the characters is a little rare for Nickoloneon happy.gif
