I pick the Wii because I am such a Nintendo freak. I have been playing Nintendo even before my brother and I got our Sega Genesis. Besides that, I'm not one for violent games and Nintendo doesn't have so many of those.

Xbox may have good games but not like the games on PS,maybe because i haven't even tried Xbox but PS technology and games are way much better and as someone said in one of the sites that PS3 will makethe Xbox 360 bleed till death without letting it even call theolic for help.^_^
and about the nintedo new console nintendo DS was realy no match for the PS portable so i guess it will be the same for Wii it won't be able to chellenge the other consoles

Overall... this is how things stand for myself:

First off, let us take a look at the Nintendo Wii.
The Wii brings a lot to the table in terms of next generation consoles. However, the name and control scheme of the systems leaves many in a love it or hate it situation. Overall, the Gamecube was a big flop for nintendo overall, so very few games were made for the system, and most of them (Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, the continuation of the Mario Party series), failed to improve upon their successes on the N64 console. However, from what I have seen from Nintendo at E3 this year, it looks very much like the Wii will be everything that the gamecube should have been and more. Thumbs up for Nintendo for this!

The Wii is also going to be the cheapest of the next generation consoles. In the last gen, all of the consoles were relatively in the same ballpark in price, but with what we are seeing, with Sony and Microsoft's products ranging from 300-600 dollars in price, those looking for a cheap gaming system will undoubtably stop at the Wii if the name doesnt scare them away.

Final Words on the Wii:
-Great Value for the Cash
-New control schemes that games have never seen before, like the Nintendo DS, this will work perfectly for some games, and a complete waste in others. Overall a good thing as it allows games to go places that they have not been able to before
-The name "Wii" is terrible, Nintendo should have stuck with the codename on this one, will likely hurt sales to some extent in the States, the price will make up for it.

Next, let's look at the XBox 360:
The Xbox 360 was the first system out on the market. This will help out Microsoft in ways you could not imagine in terms of control of the market when the Wii and PS3 hit shelves. When players have exhausted the launch titles of the Wii and PS3, they will be stuck in the limbo that the XBOX 360 is in now, waiting for the next group of games, while the XB360 will be getting their second round of games and entering the phase where games begin to stream in with greater frequency.

The XB360 is not without flaws, it has few established franchises, most notibly the the fact that Halo is the only real franchise that has been established on the 360, this makes it a hard system to jump into if you are not huge on first person shooters. I myself can hardly stand them, however, great games like Kameo, Oblivion, and with games like Lost Planet, Too Human, and more on the way, expect the Xbox 360 to jump ahead in the popularity that the original Xbox had.

Lastly, the BIGGEST thing going for the Xbox 360 is the fee based Xbox live service. The cost is reasonable for the centralized internet service that has more features than a chest of everything. at your fingertips are demos of the latest games for download, cheap quickie games for download at the Xbox Live Arcade. a combined friends list for every game in your library and the ability to compare high scores from game to game leaves the Xbox Live Service something unlikely to be matched by either Sony or Nintendo even if they offer free online gameplay.

Pros:
-Amazing Xbox Live Service
-Upcoming Big Hits
-Cheaper than the PS3

Cons:
-No established franchises other than Halo
-Expensive for a system that did not do so well in its first generation

And Lastly: The PS3
Sony has truly lost much compassion from me recently. They mock just about everything that Microsoft has done with the Xbox 360, and yet they have built a system that basically does nothing but copy the others (key examples being the randomly announced gyroscopic movement detection and the staggered pricing that the XBOX360 introduced). So far, the PS3 has really only had one announcement worthy of excitement with their revelation of FFXIII, but wait! why are we getting FFXIII before FXII???

Secondly, Sony is making a bold move in promoting their Blu-Ray disc technology. By putting it in the PS3, they risk alienating their system as the only Blu-ray player that catches on in the market. For those of you that do not know, DVD players are to be replaced soon by one of two disk formats: HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. If the Sony product wins out, the system will be fine in that respect. If HD-DVD wins, and sends Blu-Ray to the trash bins, it will leave the PS3 forever plagued by more expensive games due to the fact the disk medium will be an odd one for the vast majority to use. Truthfully, the only thing that PS3 has going for it is that the PS2 was just a huge success. so in conclusion:

Pros:
-It is Sony, which means huge 3rd party support, and games that millions of people are addicted to, exclusive to it.
-Will be the best in terms of graphics, but you are terribly mistaken if you think it will be anything more than 1.25x better than the 360, at least anytime early on in it's lifetime

Cons
-HUGE price, even with the price staggering (500-600 is just rediculous)
-Becoming copycats to key features of other systems
-Many, many people will go for the cheaper alternatives unless pulled to one of the exclusive franchises to Sony.
-Blu-Ray may NOT be the THING of the future, leaving an odd format for PS3 owners (the PS3 will not be able to play HD-DVDs)

so overall...
Xbox 360 and Wii are where the value is
PS3 comes in 3rd.

Nice Evaluation. That is some real deep stuff to think about when it comes to choosing the next console. Good job on the research.

Nintendogs VS The Dog Happy life

Brain training VS Brain Trainer Portable

WarioWare VS Baito Hell

Animal Crossing VS Fuku Fuku no Shima

Says enough... All cheap copied... Without the touch options of course.

Topics like this always tend to bring fanboys................

Hence why I tend to not get too involved in them.

For now Wikii and Ps3.

Xbox 360 blows....

Well, it all depends the games that you tend to play really. Unless you NEED to play the latest PS3 exclusives, there is no reason in the world to EVER pay the 500-600 dollars for games that are released on all 3 systems.

I just dont understand the hostility so many people have against Xbox, it is not that it is a bad system, it is just First Person Shooter heavy.

and the Wii, unless Nintendo gets a huge overhaul with their ability to release games, will only be getting like 4 games per year that are worth playing anyway.

Overall, lesson to be had here is this: Buy the system that has the most games and or features you want. this generation, the strain on the pockets will be a little too big to get all of the systems right away. No need to bash other systems due to the fact that they all have their faults.

*thinks that i should have put the PS3 in a "close" third on my post, if it were not for the price, i would buy one in a heartbeat.... but i already have a 360, so i have to postpone getting one if i ever manage to*

Having a PS2, I am favoring more for the PS3.

I have no inclination on buying any Xbox because besides Halo 1 - 3, I don't see any game that totally calls out for me.

Same goes for Nintendo. I like the Mario series, but it's not enough to get me to buy one. Plus the controller for the Wiii...not too sure of it, I'm waiting to see how others rate it.

If Blue Ray is indeed the future, then PS3 will do very well - not just survive. If Blue Ray is not, then the PS3 will need to be taken out because no one wants to pay for obselte technology.

I agree. Sony does like to copy a little of course I have a gamecube and a PS2 and i like them both, well except that PS2's accessories are more expensive.

I'm interested in PS3 I like sony and i think its a good bran name, I mean Nintendo is #1 but Sony is up behind. I like the graphics of XBox 360 thier almost look like Pixar animation. I think if the graphics are that good now just imagine, it's going to keep getting better, i mean with all this HDTV and such the sky's the limit.

F.Y.I: I used to work in Wal-Mart electronics. Now, when 360 was released in Canada our store naturally sold out all ours within the morning our store opened. Zellers, Future Shop and us then got complaints and returns/refunds on 360s. Apparently Microsoft hadnt gotten all the bugs out yet. According to customers and rumours i heard the systems were melting game discs, freezing, and were malfunctioning under any kind of heat. Maybe the sky isn't the limit yet. <_< I'm not sure if all the alligations are true but u know new stuff always has issues.

Anyway I hope PS3 graphics r even better than 360 and I think they will be.

Although I hate it when new techs come out cause i never have time to play them anymore. I can afford them but i know if i buy it i'll never have time to play them.

For the gamers, and also those random players, which system do u think ur coming to prefer to buy?

I thank Stan for just showing me the new Super Smash Brothers Brawl game. Upon looking further at the system I found out that Wii will have 4 ports for the Gamecube controllers and not 2. With this new information, its Wii all the way. Long live Nintendo!! (Snake is in)

From what i have read and seen on the wii system. It looks like its going to be the cheapest and the most creative console on the market so it should do really well. I will get one defo. Ps3 looks good but to expensive. 360 is just poor at best.

The Nintendo WII definately! The ps3 is far too expensive and the 360 lacks good games.. The graphics on the ps3 and the xbox360 aren't really cool they're just polished up.

I'd have to say the ps3 due to it's processing power and the new blue laser it using more information can be stored on a disk and it has a 60 giga byte inbuilt harddrive

PS3 without a doubt.

I was reading the entire thread and noticed that many people were saying sony "copies" other consoles. To me it is a matter of when the console is released or announced, because for all we know, some company already has the idea, but has not decided to officially tell people about it. If you invented something, the first thing you would do is not tell anyone, and build up on it before officially marketting it. If companies didn't want their technology to be copied, then they would patent their technology to an extent to allow further development, but also to limit copying. Perhaps Sony may copy, or they may not, only they really know.

To me Xbox is a bit of a flop over here. Xbox, when it first came out, there was major hype over it, especially over halo and nothing else. All my friends whom own Xbox's practically buy it for Halo. And when Xbox 360 came out, the same responses were heard "i'm buying Xbox 360 for halo". Of course there are a vast majority whom dont buy the console just for it, but it was what i had heard. I and a large majority of computer console fanatics hadn't heard of Xbox 360 until the news told of hungry xbox fans queuing up for the latest. I'm at all no means an Xbox fan, but i'm just stating the facts of what i have noticed.

Wii, it looks cool, but i'm not a nintendo console fan, more of their handheld games. (Especially yugioh games lol). The concept surrounding it is absolutely fantastic and i guess its one excuse to get people off their seats and becoming a bit more active with computer games. Hopefully its a new turn in the future evolution of computer gaming. Unfortunately, over here there hasn't been much of a response to it. Least there hasn't been anyone talking about it. Truthfully, i don't even know if it has been released over here yet lol, thats how much i have no idea about the Wii. Although over in Australia, there is a large majority whom know about the PS3 and are eagerly awaiting its arrival in march :P which is the month of which my birthday is in!! maybe i can get one lol.

Quote

So far, the PS3 has really only had one announcement worthy of excitement with their revelation of FFXIII, but wait! why are we getting FFXIII before FXII???

Also, i'm not sure about how it is in the states, but in Australia, FFXII will be coming about least several months before the arrival of PS3 let alone FFXIII of which i'm eagerly awaiting for. :D

Also, to me it seems that Blu-ray is becoming more and more well known to the people in Aust, because there has been large advertisements in the news and on upcoming technology preview shows. So i assume that PS3 will be quite successful in the long run. But even if blu-ray does become obsolete, there will still be a vast majority of sony fans willing to purchase it, it may just not appeal to those whom are already loyal to one console company, or are looking for a multi-functional gaming console of which i know PS3 will be more than just playing blu-ray disks

Overall, as many people have said, the game console of which you prefer will always be subjective, and will depend on what price range you're looking for, the type of games you desire and the loyalty to the company and their consoles. Personally as i am a Sony console fanatic, i would always prefer PS3 over nintendo or Xbox.

P.S I hope no-one has taken offence to anything i have said, i'm just stating my opinion and facts of what i have noticed over here in australia. (though none has come to my attention, but just to be on the safe side) If i have, sorry :( I seem to get very defensive when people start demoting sony's PS3, but i get that everyone else is too about their own consoles.

I would have to go with the Nintendo Wii, but I think PlayStation 3 is going to have comparable software. The PlayStation is also supposed to be a really big release hopefully it's not a big let down like the X-box360 was. With Sony releasing the PlayStation I doubt there will be any problems with the software, seeing how Sony only puts it's name on the best of technology. The blue laser is in every high tech console now and is fairly new, like High definition DVD players they have the blue laser and run around $600 hundred dollars. But the recent release of HD DVD players from Sony was a huge disappointment and many have asked for refunds because you couldn't tell the difference between the pictures, it compared to regular DVD players. So whether or not the blue laser is going to make the game console better is a toss up in my opinion, granted the blue laser can read more information then the red, but how well it runs with older software we'll have to wait and see.

Hmmm...No idea yet! For now I let them swim on the market for a year just to see how they are. I want to wait for the price to go down. I remember a time that I thought that the DREAMCAST was great when it was first released in American soil. I bought it as soon as it went on stock. Man! I sure learned my lesson! OUCH!
