What's this? NintenDogs? That isn't a real game... *quickly picks another game...* This is one of the many quotes that some people give when they see this in the store. Okay, fine this isn't a real game but still give it a chance!

The last years Nintendo is trying some new things. This game is one of them. They state that this game sells so good because of the fact that everyone can play it and you don't control anyone... However some people don't like this game at all and claim that it isn't a game. Well to be honest it isn't. It's a sort of virtual pet.

The story is really basic... When you play the game for the first time you have to knock on a door. The door opens and you're in a kennel. It's then time to pick out your dog... Rather basic... Don't you agree... ^^ In fact after this there isn't any story at all...

Gameplay:

When you bought your first dog, you have to give it a name. You do that by simply calling the name... Some people have problems with this because the MIC of the DS doesn't get it right. Thus resolving in many times calling your dogs name. This isn't fun and can annoy you... because of the facts that in order for him to do tricks you have to say/yell them ^^

After you gave your dog a name... You can play with it... Take him for a walk... Teach him (or her ) new tricks. You can also stroke him, give him food, what not... Everything is being controlled with your styles. There are also contests that you can enter however you can only do them 3 times a day (real time) This is really a shame because the contest are really fun to do.

Sound:

The 'dog' sounds are okay, but the sound effects and the background music are just very basic. Could be better!

Graphics:

The dogs are very well, nothing to complain about. However the background could have been done better
But in the end it's okay ^^

Result:

If you don't know if this is the 'game' for you then first rent it and try it out. Because it isn't a real game it can tick people off and after some time it may become boring. Because you are always doing the same thing almost and because of the fact that there isn't a real end.

Interesting review indeed. makes it sounds rather attractive.

But don't you have to shout/speak to the dog o/s? :S
Atleast my friend has a girl in her class and during one class they kept hearing sounds like: Go Chica, Bite Chica, sit Chica etc. And they saw the girl speaking to her Nintendo DS. I was like OMG!

Well, you do have shout and say things in order for your dog to do tricks and call his name so that he (or she) comes to you. edited my review a little bit to make it clear ^^ but it is a nice 'game'

Yes that's one thing that is special about Nintendo DS is that it has a microphone built in it so you can say things, like this game, various stuff in various games. However, the disadvantage is that if other people doesn't know the microphone function of the Nintendo DS, they will think you have gone mental.

EDITED: I just realize that in the game, you almost have an empty house. Probably the dog was too expensive or something. If it is Sims it would have been Game Over already.

True ^^ you're totaly right... The house it quite empty ^^ That's what I ment with the background sorta ^^
