Hello, I am currently taking a Media and Design course in school. In this assignment, I'm supposed to design a CD cover for my favourite artist/group (or simply make up one). We can either re-design an entirely new cover or redo an official one.

For my cover, I've chosen the J-POP trio, BUONO. Their cute songs are featured on the anime Shugo Chara! I used the three charas, Ran, Miki and Suu for the cover since there are three of them and three members of the band. Each one has a different voice, so I was able to match them up to the correct character. I've put together the three images (mind the work, I don't have any fancy programs!) and included the beginning lyrics to their song 'Kokoro no Tamago', as well as did my best to re-create the official BUONO font (I couldn't add the white). The lyrics are read in the traditional japanese way, left to right, top to bottom.




I have two versions. One without the images of the suits and one with. If you have a moment, please look over the two and give me your feedback about the layout, colours, positioning, etc. Also, tell me if you prefer the image with or without the suits.

Please remember that this is a SIMPLE project, worth only 15 marks and so the instructor is not looking for an amazing, photo-shopped, professionaly designed cover. I'm not looking for strong critique, just a few points on what you like and dislike.

I like it without the suits, they look annoying for me, and you gave it's right of simplicity, nothing else to say so good luck.

Thank you Modi for your response. I've also chatted with a few others and they prefered the cover without the suits, so I won't include them on the final copy.

I don't know if this is too late or not, but for the back cover the suits work well. And good luck.

Despite not needing to submit a back cover, I did so anyway. I did use the one with the suits because they filled in a blank space of the cover. I was going to add more on the top, but I decided not to.

I've finally recieved my grade for the assignment. 14/15 (93%). My instructor didn't like the bright red colour for the font besides the fact that I was merely trying to imitate the official BUONO! font and colours. I feel that it would have worked better if I added the white colour, but I couldn't find a way of doing so.
