Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelists of the RosesCreator - Kazuki Takahashi
Publisher - Konami
Release Date - 2003
Rating - E for Everyone
IntroductionYou have been summoned to Mid-Century Europe to fight for Henry Tudor (Atemu) to fight off the Yorkists. State your name, pick your deck and then choose...will you aid Atemu? Or will you betray him and join Christian Rosenkreuz (Seto) to defeat the Lancastrians and use the 'spell of doom'?
Gameplay (7/10)In this game, you have two stories. Play along side with Atemu (Red Rose) or Seto (White Rose). Your object is to collect the remaining 8 rose cards which are being guarded by 8 enemy duelists.
Duelists play on a 7x7 grid where they take turns summoning monsters and advancing them on the field in order to get to their enemy's deck master. Some monster cards even have their own effects and abilities. You can also summon spell and trap cards that can be activated by turning face up (spell) or stepping near them (trap). The rules of summoning are pretty much the same. You can only have 5 monsters and 5 spell/trap cards on the field. Also, you have to have a certain amount of summoning points to summon a monster (each round, you gain 3). The game winner is decided when a player loses all their life points or if their deck master is surrounded (or if they summon exodia). At the end of each duel, you'll come to a slot machine game. Press the three buttons to get cards from your opponent's graveyard. Match three up and you might win a rare card. When certain cards are played with the most, they can be promoted and given ranks. This allows them to develop their own deck master abilities, which can be useful in a duel. You have to battle all 8 duelists to gather the 8 red/white rose cards. Each duelist has their own Deck Cost, and you cannot duel them when your deck cost exceeds theirs.
At the end of the game, you receive a password that can be inputted to get one rare card. After that, you can choose to play for the other side, the one you didn't choose before. All together there are 19 players + yourself, who all have their own unique, themed decks with their own playing field. Use your cards wisely and use the terrain bonuses to your advantage.
Sound, Music & Effects (9/10)Personally, I think the music is classical and well composed, with great use of the piano and harpsichord. Red Rose duelists have one set of music and White Rose duelists have another, with addition to Seto and Atemu, who each have their own. People who have played Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories will recognize a few remixed music pieces from the game. If you hate repetitive music, then you will want to turn the volume down. Sound Effects are plain and simple, but they do not take away from the game.
Graphics (8.5/10)All cards are made to look like the official TCG cards, but some cards have been edited to censor guns, nudity and/or religious symbols. The graphics are hands down a big improvement from Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories. All monsters cards are animated and can be viewed 3D during battle phases or while browsing the library. Same as the card images, some 3D monsters have been edited. It's best to turn off the display battle or else the duels will take forever. Overall, I think the graphics are stunning and you really get to see what the monsters look like. The character images were re-used though, only they were given different outfits.
Overall (8/10)Don't listen to the reviews or pay attention to the ratings this game has been given. Most critics hate Yu-Gi-Oh! related material and are always putting it down. It's best to read a review written by a fan who has played the game, take into consideration their pros and cons of the game, and then make your decision as to whether or not to purchase the game.
The introduction to the game is very long and bothersome. At first, the game will seem a bit confusing and challenging. It's best to have Simon teach you how to play at the beginning. I'd recommend starting out as a Red Rose Duelist first. That way you can build up your deck and have a better chance of defeating the second story. The last boss is super hard and can take a while to defeat. The best strategy for any duelist is to get to know their cards and use this to your advantage. What card/s will stop a duelist from giving you direct damage to your Life Points? I think the graphics and music are lovely and once you create an amazing deck, you can defeat anyone with ease. Once you've completed both stories, keep playing! This way you can get new and rare cards from the slot machine. I was glad to see that Ishizu was properly re-drawn, but sadly, Bakura stayed the way he was.
Mistakes and GlitchesI've come across a few problems in the game probably due to information being inputted incorrectly, however since I'm not familiar with the TCG they may be mistakes on my behalf.
-Barrel Dragon's effect-
When flipped, it can destroy at random one of your opponent's cards, yet it can destroy your own cards.
-Malevolent Nuzzler-
This card can increase the attack points of Fiend Female monsters by 500, but most normal female monsters can be equipped with this card. Same thing with King of Yamimakai.
-Megamorph-
This card apparently can increase all your own monsters by 300 points, yet this is treated like an equip card so only one of your monsters can recieve its power bonus.
-Fusion-
Since the fusion card is not needed in this game, you can do it manually when you have the correct cards, yet it is nearly impossible to summon Twin Headed Thunder Dragon as none of the supposingly combinations will work (Thunder Dragon + Thunder Dragon)
-Characters Get Stuck-
While battling Ryuzaki, his deck master got stuck when he tried to move it and the game froze for a good 2 minutes.
-Battling Yourself-
If Deck Master K's hand has monsters cards with 1500 attack power or higher while battling on the crush terrain, he/she will refuse to summon any cards.
-Pegasus Can See Your Hand?-
After placing Gorgan's Eye face down on the field, Pegasus will magically move all his monsters into attack mode.
Hints and Fun StuffCharacter Decks:
(Name, Deck Master, Deck, Playing Field)
Red Rose Duelists:
Anzu & Dancing Elf - Fairy - Normal/Moutain/Meadow Terrain Field
Honda & Karbonala Warrior - Mixed - Normal/Forest/Water/Wasteland/Dark/Meadow (Crab)
Mai & Harpie Lady - Harpie/Winged Beast - Mountain/Wasteland
Kajiki Ryouta & Sea Dragon God Leviathan - Water - Water/Sogen
Jounouchi & Flame Swordsman - Special - Mountain/Water/Wasteland/Toon/Sogen
Shadi & Millennium Golem - Mixed - Crush/Water/Forest/Wasteland/Dark
Suguroku & Exodia Head - Exodia/Spellbound - Sogen/Mountain/Labyrinth/Dark/Normal
Bakura & Rainbow Flower - Plant/Beast - Forest/Crush
Atemu & Black Magician - Special - ALL
BOSS & Chakra- Special - Sogen/Labyrinth/Dark
White Rose Duelists:
Haga & Basic Insect - Insect - Forest
Ryuzaki & Twin Headed Rex - Dinosaur - Wasteland/Labyrinth
Ghost Kotsuzuka & Pumpking - Zombie - Wasteland/Sogen/Water
Player Killer of Darkness & King of Yamimakai - Fiend - Dark/Forest
Bandith Keith & Slot Machine - Machine - Wasteland/Labyrinth
Pegasus J. Crawford & Illusionist Mage - Toon - Sogen/Normal/Labyrinth/Toon
Labyrinth Mage & Beast Tamer - Labyrinth - ALL
Ishizu & Witch of the Black Forest - Mixed - Water/Crush/Wasteland
Heishin & Battle Steer - Beast-Warrior/Warrior - Mountain/Meadow
Seto & Blue Eyes White Dragon - Special - Sogen/Normal/Labyrinth
BOSS & Skull Knight - Special - Sogen/Labyrinth/Crush
Out of all the duelists, Honda is the easiest to beat due to his odd deck and weak cards. Bakura is a very disappointing duelist because as you would expect a nice occult deck instead uses plant cards with 600 attack points. Each duelist had their own themed deck which gain bonuses on their field, so remember what they are before you begin (it's easy to guess). Each character is almost exactly as they are portrayed in the anime/manga. The Player Killer of Darkness uses the darkness and traps to cowardly hide behind. Haga will try his best to summon his Ultimate Moth while Ghost Kotsuzuka will try to power up his monsters with Pumpking. Atemu and Seto have their own deck with familiar cards (Black Magician Girl, Mirror Force, Silver Fang, etc). Seto is actually easy to beat while Atemu is a tad tricky due to you never knowing what he has up his sleeves. The Boss is actually easier to beat playing along Seto's side rather than along Atemu's side but beware of his many trap cards.
Your best chances of beating the game is to develop a themed deck. Depending on the available cards, it's very easy to esemble one using the correct combination of monster and spell cards. Popular decks include Zombie decks and Fairy decks as it is very easy to power up your monsters with stats at their maximum (9999/9999). Even if you don't have the monster cards you need, remember than you can easily fuse two or more cards to obtain them. You can get a few ritual cards in the game, however they can be a hassle to use and a waste of turns). If you have rare cards that you wish to require more of, duel against yourself to win them in the slot machine. Also remember to try your best to get three cards lined up to get even more rare cards including the Blue Eyes White Dragon, Gemini Elf and Demon Summon. Use your best monsters often to promote them so that they will have many deck master abilities that will aid you in battle.
Remeber to know your opponent before you being dueling them. Save the game after every duel so you can see how your opponent battles. Doing this will allow you to know the needed cards that will bring them down.

Based on the top-rated animated series from Cartoon Network, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is the first Yu-Gi-Oh! game for the PSP system. Up to four players can duel wirelessly in massive team competitions with all new characters, monsters and cards from the GX universe. The game also features a larger selection of cards than any previous Yu-Gi-Oh! video game, providing players with more choices in building their decks and new custom animations for each card as they are brought into play.

This is a map of all the places you can go to at the beginning.
Having played all the previous GBA and DS Yu Gi Oh! games and enjoyed them immensely, I literally begged my parents to let this be an early christmas present. So far all the PSP games I have played did not engage me for very long and I was worried that UMD loading might get in the way. However, my worries were unfounded once I started to play this brilliant game.
After a very attractive opening sequence the main menu is displayed. To begin with there is not much you can do other than start story mode. You then name your character and you become a transfer student at the GX Duel Academy. Unlike most previous games you get to move about various locations on the GX island, talking to characters and dueling them. Each day you attend class and this initially provides a tutorial on the rules of dueling, useful for beginners. Eventually, attending class just involves a short cut scene and than it is back to dueling and earning DP to exchange at the store for booster packs of cards. Since there are over 2400 cards in this version of the game it is going to take a lot of dedication and patience to collect them all.
GRAPHICS. Everything is drawn beautifully. The card art is crystal clear and the duel screen is almost perfect. Overall, much clearer than the GBA and DS versions of the game. The background of the duel screen is a very nice swirling vortex which changes to represent field spells when they are played. Some of the field spells do tend to make the duel area harder to see but this is only a minor gripe. Also, the duelist and card animations are very nice but I soon turned them off to speed up the duels.

The above is some of the awesome graphics this game has.
SOUND. Worth listening to through your Headphones. A nice jazz track plays during the duel and changes when a duelist life total becomes dangerously low. Also, mainly card flicking noises and little explosion effects.
PLAYABILITY. If you like dueling and Yu Gi Oh! this game is a must. If you don't like the previous games then I doubt you would change your mind playing this version. Loads of cards to collect, decks to build, lessons to attend and duels to play. It is just brilliant.

The above is a scene of the duel field during a duel.

The above is how you walk around, this particular place is the Store where you buy cards.
The bottom line is simply that if you are a Yu Gi Oh! fan or a strategy gamer then you need this game inserted into your PSP as soon as possible. Possibly the best Yu Gi Oh! game to date. 10 out of 10!
Reviewer's Score: 10/10

(PSP) GRAND THEFT AUTO:LIBERTY CITY STORIES(GTA:LCS)
Published by: Rockstar Games
Developed by: Rockstar Leeds / Rockstar North
Genre: Third-Person Action
ESRB Content Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs
Media Size: 1 UMD
Price:$49.99(US)
Grand theft auto....one of the most playes PS2 games now comes into the world of the PSP, sony's latest revolutional gaming device. Playing GTA was fun enough, but now you can play it wherever you go! GTA:LCS is a prequel to GTA3 and is set in the same city. Lots of new features have been introduced while some older ones have been taken out, but the gameplay is still the same. GTA:LCS brings a new edge to the GTA series providing complex missions and mini games which you would spend hours and hours doing.
Graphics: Ok...The graphics in this game are not top quality, considering the psp's capacibility, but you have to understand the length and complexity of the game, giving you so much freedom so something had to be lacked of. Saying this, the quality of the graphics is not that bad, and does not effect the gaming experience in anyway.
8/10
Gameplay: Well the gameplay is the same as GTA so if you have played another one it would be almost identical. The only 'difficulty' is getting used to the psp's controls if you are used to a ps2's controller, but after playing for a while, you get hang of it quite easily. The use of the joystick for the movement can get annoyin at times, but is easily controlled. There is only one negative thing i have to add about the gameplay....It is the camera. The camera is constant and you would rarely move it during playing, but at certain locations and places, the camera can get annoying and would require time to fully understand it. Overall the gameplay is pretty good, with all the freedom in travelling, but it would take time to get used to the controls/camera.
7/10
Audio: Sound does play a major part in the game whether it is listening to the missions, sounds of guns or the background of the radio playing while driving a car. During certain missions, people might find it hard to understand their accent, but it is not that bad, anyway, subtitles are provided so you can understand what is happening. I find the radio in GTA's quite interesting as it not only provides music, but some are really funny, so it is sort of like listening to a really funny show! Overall sound is utilised as well as it can be, while still providing the focus on the game play.
9/10
Multiplayer: There are six multiplayer games suitable for 1-6 players. It really is like six mini games with different aims and objectives, from stealing the most cars, to killing the most people. It is actually really fun and competitive, and playing it with other people is really fun!!! Obviously the focus of GTA:LCS is not the multiplayer games, so do not expect full intense missions.etc but expect hours of fun with minigames!
9.5/10
Game Value: I noe that games can be expensive and most people can't buy anything, but GTA:LCS is seriously worth buying! Mainly because of the endless possibilities you have with the game. Even though the main missions will be relatively easy to finish, there are alot of side missions and side quests you can do to make the game more enjoyable! eg finishing the main missions might only get you 47% finished out of all the things you can do! So this game will last FOREVER!
10/10
Overall: I seriously love the game and reckon it is a MUST GET GAME! (Note: Some people have been saying how they won't get it as GTA increases your firmware to 2.0 i.e. you can't play fake games....well it is definitely worth buing as most new decent games would have a similar function to prevent illegal things from happening) I just love the concept of going around shooting people, driving and stealing cars and of course, running away from the police, FBI and army! If you haven't got a psp? GET ONE! If you haven't got GTA yet, BUY IT!
Final rating 10/10
Screenshots!

Goodbye!

oh oooo....its the cops!!!! DRIVE!!!!
By the way, can you please comment on this, as it is my first game review....so i need to know what to improve in. Thanks for your comments!

Popolocrois
A short yet enjoyable game averaging out about 20-25 hours of game play. The starting gives you a history leason about the Popolocrois with the most unusal kind of Anime I've seen which I have to say grows on you. The only complaint I have about this game is that it's just too easy and It's one thing I never thought I say about an RPG is it's just too fast most RPG's you have to walk forever before you reach the next location. Instead of walking you find yourself running one would see this as a good thing I myself wanted it to slow down as I didn't want this game to end so qickly.
GOOD Points
You are really getting to for the price of one it's almost like you get a sequel and a prequel in one with both as enjoyable as each other.
The battle system is fun to use despite how weak the enemies are.
Voice Dubbed each playable character will anouce it's attack.
Memorable characters ranging from the cute to the disturbing.
The BAD
It's too fast at times it seems good but as you near the end you find yourself wanting to slow it down.
The enimes are too weak although you encouter the odd boss or two that give you a bit of a challange you still find youself wanting more of a fight in them.

About time we got some reviews in *sigh* seems video game master has to setup and give down to the point reviews, typing this review in here so bar with me on this add pics etc later
God of War
By: SCEA
Genre: Fantasy Action Adventure
Release Date: Mar 22, 2005
Players: 1 Player
Rated : M for Mature
Well where should I start of this game. Well first thing you should know is this game for you.
If your into any type of blood combat platform games then dont read this review just buy it

. I saw gameplay trailer for this game and I was like wow and I'm not person to go out and by games like Devil May Cry etc :/. Ok see if I can put my comments into some kind of sections.
Story:
The main plot of the game revolves around Kratos carrying out a mission from the gods of Olympus to stop the renegade god Ares from destroying the city of Athens. The only way a mortal like Kratos can kill a god is to acquire the mythical Pandora's box, a weapon so powerful that even the gods themselves tremble before its power. You follow Kratos quest to get Pandora's box. The more you get into the game the more you learn why Kratos wants to help the Gods and kill Ares.
Graphics:
I'll be nice and short here. The graphics for this game are right at the top of what the ps2 can do. They are good. There is a few janky animations here and there however thats very small point of the game (as well no game is perfect

)
Controls/General GamePlay:
The controls are very simple to use which I enjoyed about this game. You use these 2 small daggers/swords that are chained to your arms. Square is just basic weak attack, triangle is heavyer attack. Yes there are combos in the game. You get more and more when you "upgrade" your weapon, I shall come to that in a min. The cammer angles I found fine, you can't control the cammer thou like you can in some games. When you kill monsters you gain red orbs which you use to update your sword and the powers that the god give you.
Here are your weapons/powers that you have during the game:
Blades of Chaos
Forged in the fiery depths of Hades, the Blades of Chaos are your starting
weapon(s), given to Kratos by the God of War, Ares, after Kratos made the
pledge to become Ares's disciple in exchange for Ares saving his life on the
battle field.
(You do get more combos as you level it,more power etc it says on the upgrade screen aka start button what you get next also can change info with the L1/R1 and one page is all the combos so tells you what the buttons are)
Poseidon's Rage
The best magic gift for getting extremely high combo hit numbers, given to
you by Poseidon in-between the second mini-Hydra battle and the final one.
Using it properly can bring you massive combo hit numbers, thus bringing you
more Red Orbs, and you can never get too many of those.
(love this one :3 good when its level 2 + as the damage area gets bigger)
Medusa's Gaze
Instant enemy statue. Technically, it is given to you by Aphrodite,
although you actually have to fight Medusa to get it.
Stoning an enemy and smashing him/her/it gives you an immediate +15 Red
Orb bonus, while stoning an enemy that is airborne (and letting them come
crashing down) gives you a +30 Red Orb bonus. Don't lag, though, as you
have to smash the stoned enemy quickly, or the enemy shakes off its stoned
state.
A nice perk to this is that sometimes the other enemies will accidentally
smash their stoned comrade. Nice helping hand.
Medusa's Gaze doesn't work on Gorgons, or any of the Bosses.
(heh dont like this one much)
You get 2 more powers and You get a big ass sword (I normaly use my main weapon thou this weapon you get given is usefull for killing certain monsters etc easyer then your blades) Well shall let you find out what they do and are.
Well back to gameplay stuff. One nice feature is with most monsters when they get weak a big O appers above them. And then you play some kind of like mini game to kill them. Orgs you have to press buttons that apper on screen fast and you see Kratos jump under and up his back and kills them it just looks cool. Another one is where you just keep pressing O to drive your blades into the monsters mouth
Small Note. That there is small about of nudeness in the game and clearly alot of blood....prefect ;o
With this game being a platform clearly there are some puzzle elements but I think the makers got these puzzles just right

1-2 maybe hard for few people but that dont get so far that you want to slam your controler on the floor. Myself I'm not gud puzzle person much myself yet I manged most of the puzzles fine. 1-2 gave me abit of trouble but hey games aint make to be a walk over. Well the puzzles themselfs are very well done in my view, a few puzzles are to do with monsters also like:
When you are locked in room and gate at other end and other side is button on floor, need to stone a monster when it stands on the platform then quickly roll to other side and past the now own gate before it unstones itself. Also some are very simple like skull door and got some old dead body in the room, have to smash R2 to rip its head of to use it as a key in the door.
Speaking of each the level for this game is done quite well as if you play it on easy (I did so I could play around whole game to learn everything then play "God Mode" which is hardest after I finished the game (you have to play the game to unlock god mode btw)
The boss fights are quite enjoyable also.Like the certain way you have to kill hydra (first main boss) etc I wish they redid the final battle but well late you view on that thou when did it on god mode clearly it was hard. Boss's etc the game in general is suited to what level you set it too.
Sound also is done very well. I really cant think of anything bad to say about this game :/ Also sorry if its abit messy this review heh You know what I'm like

I guess you can get abit away from combat and feel abit button mashy with all doors to lift etc abit too much controler massing lol Also the game is abit sort

Singstar is one of PS2's most popular party game and it is definitely a worthwhile buy. Singstar is generally a karaoke for the playstation and allows you to sing your favourite licensed tune! It has been so popular that more than one singstar pack is availabe. Currently there are five singstar games out-Singstar, Singstar party, Singstar Pop, Singstar 80's, Singstar Rocks and to be soon released Singstar anthems.
Unlike the original, each subsequent one focus on a specific genre in music. Note that in different places in the world, some songs world be different to suit your region. When you buy the singstar bundle, it comes with the allocated singstar game and two microphones where you can plug into one of your PS2's usb slots. This way it feels as if you are singing to an audience and creates a mood of fun.
Gameplay: Yes there is gameplay in singstar!!! In Singstar, there is a point system which compares the pitch of your voice to the original soundtrack. The closer you are to the track, the more points you will score. But you can turn this function off by playing in the 'free mode' section where you just sing and nothing is analysed. The Singstar game is intended for more than 1 person and currently allows up to 8 people to take turns singing. In multiplayer mode, you can split the group into two teams-red and blue. Then you enter all the names of those people that are playing. Then the game will randomise two teams and who they verse each other. To ensure that people can't pick songs they are especially good at, the songs are randomised also but each team has 5 "Shuffle tokens" where you can randomise the song again if you don't know/like it. Also the 'Eyetoy' camera for PS2 is also compatabile for Singstar. Instead of seeing the videoclip of the song, you see the person who is singing instead. You can also take player profiles so when you go to the high scores there is a picture of the winner instead. This does not really effect the gameplay but just makes it more enjoyable. Since there are so many singstar discs, they have an option to change the CD during the game without disrupting it. i.e. after you have sung "smoke on the water" you suddenly want to sing "Like a Virgin" so you can press "select" and then change to the required disc. This feature is extremely useful as it allows the user more freedom and control. There is are only two downfalls to gameplay, it is that if you are the really competive type or someone who is really good at singing, Singstar's microphones aren't 100% accurate and they are done by pitch. So you can hum, whistle etc the tune and you can still achieve an extremely high mark. It doesnt award naturally good singers which is a good and bad thing. Another one is that it IS NOT INTENEDED for SOLO use! Although you can probably see why! (note i am being extremely critical for this)
Graphics- the graphics are not a major part of the game. You don't require top of quality graphics to play singstar. The music videos are of decent quality similar to the ones you see on tv. The lyrics on the bottom of the screen are also extremely easy to see. There isn't much else about graphics, although the screenshots from the eyetoy camera / the video taken, isn't the best quality due to the simplicity of the eyetoy camera.
Audio- One of the major properties required for singstar. The sound quality of songs is like CD quality, but the microphone quality isn't as good so no matter how hard you try, you can never sound perfect without interferences. This does not effect the gameplay as it is a minor error that cannot realistically be corrected.
NOTE: just want to emphasise that some songs are different depending on the area you are, and some countries has special releases too.
Overall this game is a MUST for parties, people that love to sing or people that just want to have a good time! it is DEFINITELY worth the money as you can replay this so many times and you still won't get bored! Also it makes you listen to songs you havent heard of so it expands your own knowledge of music!
